Start by bringing the blueberries to a low boil. Add maple syrup, then let it simmer. Once the blueberries have released their juices, add the mixture to a blender and mix it until smooth.
Grind the rolled oats into a fine powder in your blender, then mix in the baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
Combine the dry and wet ingredients in your blender until you achieve a smooth, pourable batter. You can also fold in the chocolate chips at this point if you are using them.
Preheat your waffle iron and lightly oil it. Once it’s nice and hot, pour the batter into the iron and let it cook until the waffles are golden brown and slightly crispy.
