These air fryer Brussels sprouts are a quick, easy, and nutrient-dense side dish, perfect for any occasion! They’re cooked with olive oil and simple seasonings, then finished off with a bright, citrusy marinade.
Preheat your air fryer for 3-5 minutes, depending on your model.
Wash and thoroughly dry the sprouts. Trim off the tough, woody base and any dry outer leaves, then cut each sprout in half lengthwise.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the Brussels sprouts with olive oil, salt, and freshly cracked black pepper until well-coated.
Transfer the sprouts to the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure they aren’t overlapping and it isn’t overcrowded (fry in batches if necessary).
Air fry them at 380F for 15-18 minutes, shaking halfway, until they're tender and slightly crispy on the edges (they’re usually perfect at 15 minutes for us).
While the sprouts are cooking, mix together the lemon juice, olive oil, minced garlic, and agave or maple syrup in a small bowl. Whisk until well combined. Season with salt and pepper to your taste preference.
When the Brussels sprouts are done, transfer them to a mixing bowl. Drizzle the lemon-agave mixture over, tossing gently to coat evenly. Serve immediately with your favorite main dishes. Happy eating!
Notes
Fresh: Use fresh Brussels sprouts over frozen ones for the best texture and flavor.
Dry thoroughly: After washing, make sure the sprouts are completely dry to avoid a steamed texture in the fryer.
Consistent size: Halve or quarter your sprouts so they are roughly the same size, ensuring even cooking.
Preheat properly: Always give your air fryer a few minutes to preheat. This ensures even cooking from the start.
Single layer: Make sure the Brussels sprouts are spread in a single layer without overlapping for the ideal crispy finish.
Flip halfway: Midway through cooking, give the basket a shake, or use tongs to rotate the sprouts for equal crispiness.
Time check: Not all air fryers are created equal! Adjust the cooking time based on your machine and desired crispiness.
Serve hot: Air fryer Brussels sprouts are best enjoyed immediately after cooking for the optimal crunch.
