Defining plant-based
Plant-based, often used interchangeably with veganism, means consuming no animal products. Yes, that means no meat, dairy, or eggs.
But don't worry, you'll be eating more than just salads in no time with the help of Broke Bank Vegan.
Choosing Broke Bank Vegan
We went with Broke Bank Vegan because Broke Bank Plant-Based sounds a little lame for one. But mostly because veganism is more than what you eat. It's a lifestyle.
So if you're interested in learning more, we have the ultimate vegan guide to help you on your journey, wherever you may be at.

A little about us
We've always loved creating recipes that not only look and taste delicious, but provide the most value-for-money. We're constantly inspired by new cuisines from our travels around the world, and we like to experiment with all kinds of flavors.
Our backgrounds
Since we were young, we've been involved in every type of sport. Mitch played hockey in the Western Hockey League, and Justine played varsity soccer. Because of this, we're extremely competitive and like to challenge ourselves (and each other) in the kitchen.
Despite our occasional foul language and casual writing style, we're actually both trained in specialized nursing fields. We've always had a passion for health, and we've used our education to help us navigate the world of nutrition and dietetics.
To pursue our passion for recipe development and blogging, we quit our jobs in November of 2020 and moved to Mexico!
Our plan is to immerse ourselves in cultures around the world and share our own take on their food through a vegan lens.
Our vegan experience
We've been vegan for over 6 years, and we haven't wilted away yet. We've also experimented with high-carb low-fat, keto, raw, and fruitarian, amongst others.
Through these experiences, we've learned the best approach for us is to eat a balanced, plant-based diet. This means eating all types of foods, whether it be a salad or a cheesecake. It's all about moderation, but enjoying ourselves at the same time.
We've learned so much about cooking over the years, and we have a ton of recipes to share with you. We're excited you're here, and we hope to see more of you!
